Study: Weed Strain Names Don't Mean Much, Give 'False Sense of Diversity'

It’s kindof unfortunate too because being able to trace modern strains back by genetic origin would be pretty cool. When I was younger we’d get bags of mystery bud and our dealer would just make up a name with OG on the end so people would buy more. Marketing 101. But at the same time, if you give me a nug of some genuine Blue Dream next to a nug of some White Widow, I’m gonna be able to tell them apart if not outright identify them. For potency, color, size and shape, strains are less important than pheno hunting by far, but for the terp profile? Good luck trying to get an OG Kush to smell like a Tangie, that’s all I’ll say.
